What is acne?
Acne is a condition of the skin, which causes blackheads (comedones), whiteheads and spots, especially on the upper back area, the shoulders and around the face and neck.
Acne tends to begin at puberty and, although most sufferers are over it within a few years, acne may carry on for life.
Some people may also develop acne for the first time in later life, particularly Acne Rosacea.
Severe and distressing cases of adult acne are relatively common and acne may cause serious emotional and self-image problems.
